Lag or disconnects on launch day?
Half the launch-week "server errors" we trace are routing problems between you and the game servers, not the servers themselves. A game booster reroutes that path. GearUP is the one we point people to: it supports most new releases within a day of launch.

Most Mistfall Hunter latency complaints are not fixable by tweaking your PC, and it’s better to know that up front: Bellring runs battlefield servers in exactly five countries — China, the United States, Germany, Singapore and Brazil (Official Launch FAQ). If you don’t live near one, your ping is a map problem. What you can fix are disconnects, mid-raid drops and the avoidable half of desync.
1. The region lock nobody mentions before you buy
Bellring’s launch FAQ states it plainly:
“due to compliance requirements, store accounts registered in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will download the North American build by default and will only be able to access the North American servers (located in the US).”
So if you’re on a North American store account, you cannot shop around for a better-ping region — that decision was made for you. Any guide telling you to “switch servers to fix ping” is not describing the build you’re running.
2. Oceania: Bellring said no, and offered refunds
This one is settled and it’s bad news if you’re in Australia or New Zealand. In a Steam forum thread on the subject, Bellring posted that it is not standing up an Australian battlefield server for now, citing player-population math:
“Due to concerns about insufficient concurrent players, an Australia battlefield server could currently result in a high volume of solo/low-player matches.”
The developer offered refunds to affected players while letting them keep account progress, and said it would “evaluate as soon as possible.” In the same thread, OCE players report routing to Singapore at roughly 90 ms from Australia’s east coast and 118–135 ms from New Zealand — one New Zealand player wrote they had “NEVER seen the game lower than 135ms.”
No VPN or route optimizer changes the physical distance to Singapore. Some reduce jitter on a bad route; none of them reduce the floor. Be skeptical of any page that promises otherwise — a lot of the “fix Mistfall Hunter ping” results are advertising for exactly those products.
3. Disconnects that are actually bugs
Some of what looks like your connection was a client bug that Bellring has already patched. From the official notes:
- July 30 update — fixed “an issue where some matches on console platforms could not reconnect after a disconnect.”
- Pre-launch (July 17) — fixed “an occasional issue that blocked players from reconnecting if they disconnected during a loading screen.”
- August 6 update — fixed a case where leaving a match mid-battle would settle the match normally but fail to actually exit, and a case where background music died after a disconnect-and-reconnect.
If you’re on PS5 or Xbox and losing runs to failed reconnects, confirm your client is current before you rebuild your home network.
3b. Your ping number changed meaning on 12 August
Worth knowing before you compare readings with a friend or with your own memory: in the 12 August live update, Bellring says it “optimized our ping display logic to provide a much more accurate, real-time reflection of your actual in-match input latency.”
So a number that moved after that update does not necessarily mean your connection changed — the meter did. If your ping “got worse” around 12 August while the game felt the same, the more likely explanation is that the display is now telling you the truth. Any comparison against a screenshot or guide from launch week is comparing two different measurements.
The same update also states Bellring “optimized server performance and deployed fixes for select server-side lag issues”, while being explicit that the remaining hiccups are still under investigation. That matches what it said on 7 August: the intermittent lag investigation is ongoing, in-stage environments are complex enough that “a one-shot fix for every lag issue may not be possible”, and the problems should taper off with each successive update.
Two practical readings of that. First, some of your lag is genuinely being fixed on a rolling basis, so re-test after each update rather than settling on a verdict. Second, Bellring is not claiming it is solved — if you are still rubberbanding on a current client, you are not missing a setting.
(Official patch status checked 14 August 2026: live updates on 6 and 12 August, a server-side update on 7 August, nothing since.)
4. Low ping and still lagging — what Bellring told one EU player
A player on EU servers reported 20-29 ms ping and still missing hits on opponents standing directly in front of them, with skills firing late or not at all. In that Steam thread a Bellring account marked [developer] (Gyldhunter) replied with five steps:
- Turn off ray tracing
- Change DLSS to FSR
- Turn off NVIDIA Smooth Motion
- Lower image quality
- Cap the in-game frame rate to 60 or 120
The studio added, in its own words, “We’re working hard on solving lagging problem,” and pointed players to its Discord for individual tickets.
One caveat worth stating plainly. Another player in the same thread asked whether client-side graphics settings could address server lag as opposed to input latency. Bellring did not answer that question in the thread. Every step above changes something on your machine, so they are worth trying — but if your ping is already 20 ms, the thing making you miss hits is unlikely to be your GPU load, and nobody at Bellring has said otherwise.
5. Desync and rubberbanding
Bellring acknowledged this category on August 5, in the same roadmap post that confirmed Solo Mode:
“We’re also actively investigating the stuttering and latency issues reported recently, and we’ll sync with you as soon as we have progress to report.”
That’s the whole official statement — no cause, no ETA, no patch promised. Treat “netcode fix incoming” claims elsewhere as speculation.
What you can control while you wait:
- Separate the two symptoms. If your own frames hitch when you pan the camera, that’s local performance, not the server — go to the performance page instead. If the world moves and you don’t, that’s network.
- Wired beats wireless. Jitter, not bandwidth, is what desyncs a dodge.
- Stop treating parry timing as reliable at high ping. At 130 ms against a 20 ms opponent you are reading a stale world. Play spacing and disengagement rather than reactive counters — the controls page covers what still works when timing doesn’t.
6. “Connection failed (code -1)”
This one is simpler than it looks. In the Steam thread where it was first reported, the original poster answered themselves: the game hadn’t gone live yet. Code -1 means the client could not reach the game service at all — it is not a crash and not a local corruption. Check whether a maintenance or update window is running before you start verifying files.
FAQ
Why is my Mistfall Hunter ping so high? Bellring runs battlefield servers in exactly five countries — China, the United States, Germany, Singapore and Brazil. If you don’t live near one, your ping is geography, not your router or a setting.
Can I switch server regions to lower my ping? Not if you’re on a North American store account. Bellring’s launch FAQ says accounts registered in the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands download the North American build and can only access the US servers. That decision was made for you.
Is there an Oceania or Australian server? No. Bellring said it is not standing up an Australian battlefield server for now, citing insufficient concurrent players, and offered refunds to affected players while letting them keep progress. OCE players report routing to Singapore at roughly 90 ms from Australia’s east coast and 118–135 ms from New Zealand.
Will a VPN or route optimizer fix my ping? No. Some reduce jitter on a bad route, but none reduce the floor set by physical distance to the server. Be skeptical of pages promising otherwise — many are advertising exactly those products.
What does “Connection failed (code -1)” mean? The client could not reach the game service at all — it is not a crash and not local corruption. Check whether a maintenance or update window is running before you start verifying files.

The five battlefield server countries (China, the United States, Germany, Singapore and Brazil) and the quoted passage about North American account region locking, plus the July 30 console reconnection fix, the July 17 loading-screen disconnect fix, the August 6 mid-session-leave and background-music fixes, the August 12 “optimised ping display logic” and server-side latency fix, the August 7 note on intermittent latency, and the August 5 line about actively investigating stutter and latency, all come from Bellring’s official launch FAQ and Steam patch notes, with quoted text reproduced verbatim. The patch status was checked on 14 August 2026, as the page states, and has not been re-checked item by item since. Bellring’s reasons for not standing up an Oceanic battlefield server and the refund arrangement, along with the 90 ms and 118–135 ms figures Oceanic players reported after being routed to Singapore, come from that Steam forum thread — Bellring’s part is an official statement, the latency numbers are players’ own accounts, and we have not measured them ourselves. The reading of “Connection failed (code -1)” comes from the thread that first reported it, where the poster added that the game had not yet launched at the time. Preferring wired over wireless, clearing the network during a raid, fully power-cycling the console, separating local stutter from world desync, and not trusting parry timing at high ping are general connection troubleshooting and combat advice, not instructions Bellring has issued.
