How to get to Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact 7.0
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 11, 2026
Short answer: update to 7.0, open the map, and use the Snezhnaya teleport waypoint that unlocks automatically. Per the special program coverage, there is no border trek — the entrance is one teleport away from the moment servers come back on 12 August 2026 at 11:00 (UTC+8) (countdown in your timezone).
What is confirmed — now from the official update notes
The official Version 7.0 update notes settle most of this page’s open questions:
- 7.0 opens five named areas of Snezhnaya: Volkodlak Tundra, White Birch Snowgrave, Everfrozen Earth, Flamefeather Valley and Fellfrost Peak — not the entire nation at once. (The cities around Morespok, Snezhnograd and Glupov sit within these, per CN roundups.)
- The waypoint gate is now official: completing Archon Quest Prologue: Act III “Song of the Dragon and Freedom” auto-unlocks a teleport waypoint southwest of Volkodlak Tundra. If you finished that quest years ago, the waypoint simply unlocks after the update — one teleport and you’re in, Primogem reward included.
- Starting Archon Quest Chapter VII itself needs Adventure Rank 18 plus that same Prologue act — but map access rides on the waypoint, not on starting the new chapter.
Our earlier caution — “no Adventure Rank or quest requirement has been mentioned, but absence of mention is not confirmation” — resolved almost exactly that way: no AR gate, one early-game quest gate that veterans cleared long ago.
The Eye of Graeae — your Snezhnaya travel kit
The update notes also name the region’s exploration system: the Eye of Graeae, a monocle-shaped mechanism found in an abandoned station. Officially it can:
- call a train and travel between cities — the snow train from the trailers is a usable transit system, not scenery
- craft items and claim Daily Commission rewards while aboard — the train doubles as a rolling base camp
- create Prime Ice Constructs in the open world — exploration aids that can also carry messages and materials into other players’ worlds, an asynchronous multiplayer layer Genshin has never had
It unlocks as you progress through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I.
What we still verify in-game at launch
- Where exactly the arrival waypoint drops you, and how the subzero cold mechanic hits fresh arrivals — Snezhnaya brings back an upgraded version of Dragonspine’s cold gauge, so arriving unprepared has consequences. Bring warming consumables if you have them.
This page got its pre-launch verification pass against the official notes; in-game confirmation lands within hours of servers opening.
Once you are in
- Unlock the Cryo Traveler at the first Statue of The Seven — here’s how that works, including the free 5-star sword attached to it.
- The region runs on the new Stellar reactions — the two new reactions explained.
- Somewhere in Snezhnaya sits the Shadow Realm, the series’ first third-person shooter mode — what we know about it.
