How to build the Cryo Traveler in Genshin 7.0
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 13, 2026
The Cryo Traveler’s value is structural, not numerical: they convert the party’s Superconduct and Swirl into Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl for free, which is the entry ticket to everything 7.0 built. Unlock guide here — this page is what to do afterwards.
Correction: talent priority is not what we assumed
We originally wrote “skill first” here on the reasoning that the conversion aura is passive. CN launch guides say the opposite — normal attacks first, then burst, then skill — and their explanation makes it clear why we were wrong: the Cryo Traveler’s damage lives on normal, charged and plunge attacks, which the skill’s star buffs by an amount equal to 80% of the Traveler’s ATK while it is out. The skill is the enabler; the attacks are the payload.
What C0 actually gives you
CN guides list the free package concretely, which is worth seeing before you decide whether to invest:
- While the skill’s star is out: normal, charged and plunge damage up by 80% of the Traveler’s ATK
- At 2,000 ATK: +160 Elemental Mastery
- At 2,000 ATK: the party’s Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl reactions deal +7%
- Full exploration enhancement: +10% crit rate, +20% crit damage, +20% ATK/DEF/HP/ER, +60 EM
Weapons: two, and CN guides recommend nothing else
The Exaiphanes Blade is the pick — CN coverage reports it refines through seven stages, one per Cryo Statue of The Seven you awaken in Snezhnaya, and that three stages are already reachable in this version, which is enough to function. Its one flaw: in Stellar-Conduct play its crit can overflow.
Second is Whitelake Frostfeather, Odette’s signature — numerically slightly ahead, but it costs pulls.
CN guides explicitly recommend nothing beyond these two. Our earlier line that “any 5-star crit sword works” was too loose: the free sword is tuned for the Traveler specifically, so a generic 5-star does not beat it in this slot.
Artifacts: it depends on which team, and Furnace has a catch
This is the correction that matters most:
- Stellar-Conduct team → Disenchantment in Deep Shadow. CN guides put this first because it directly raises the Traveler’s own Stellar-Conduct damage and crit.
- Stellar Swirl team (quick-swap sub-DPS) → Heart of the Furnace or Noblesse Oblige.
Why not Furnace everywhere? Heart of the Furnace needs its wearer to trigger a Stellar Glimmer reaction or deal Stellar Glimmer damage — and the Cryo Traveler does not apply Cryo from off-field. They have to swap in and charged-attack to satisfy it. That is fine in a Stellar Swirl rotation where they swap in anyway; it is awkward in a team where you wanted them parked in the back. Odette satisfies the condition from the backline, which is exactly why CN guides hand her the set first.
Main stats ATK / ATK / crit; substats crit > ATK > EM > ER.
The honest strength assessment
CN reviewers are blunt, and this is worth more than a tier letter:
- In Stellar-Conduct teams the Cryo Traveler is a stopgap for players without Sandrone — the lack of off-field Cryo application hurts stacking badly, and they lose the comparison with Odette clearly.
- In Stellar Swirl teams the gap narrows a lot; CN coverage puts them within roughly 7% on the base multiplier, with heavy team-wide buffs diluting the rest.
- Measured overall: about 78% of a C0 Sandrone at comparable investment, i.e. Fontaine-era DPS levels — enough for lower-difficulty Abyss and open-world bosses, not a carry for the hardest content.
- Practical downsides on the field: melee attacks get eaten by large enemy models, and there is no interruption resistance. CN guides therefore prefer using them as a quick-swap burst unit rather than parking them on the field.
Constellations: C1 and C2 are free right now
Both are obtainable in this version through the main quest and exploration, and both are worth having:
- C1 — energy regeneration strong enough that quick-swap bursts never stall
- C2 — +120 EM to the Traveler in a Stellar-Conduct team, or to the on-field carry (Yumemizuki Mizuki, for instance) in a Stellar Swirl team
Teams
Stellar-Conduct: Cryo Traveler + Odette or Qiqi + Sucrose / Lan Yan / Xilonen / Zhongli + Alyosha / Yae Miko / Kuki Shinobu.
Stellar Swirl (the better home): Yumemizuki Mizuki as the carry + Cryo Traveler + Odette / Qiqi / Diona + Faruzan or Sucrose. The Traveler stacks in the back, swaps in at full stacks for a charged attack and burst, then leaves.
What still needs verifying
- Talent book and boss material names for the Cryo form — the official wiki has not published the Traveler’s Cryo talent line yet, and we are not going to guess names that players will type into a farming route. This lands here once official data appears.
- Whether the conversion aura works from every party slot. CN guides answer half of this: the Traveler does not apply Cryo from off-field, which is why they struggle in Stellar-Conduct teams. Whether the conversion itself still applies while they sit in the back is a separate question no official statement covers.
FAQ
What is the Cryo Traveler’s talent priority? Normal attacks first, then burst, then skill — per the CN launch guides. Their damage lives on normal, charged and plunge attacks; the skill is the enabler, the attacks are the payload.
What is the Cryo Traveler’s best weapon? The free Exaiphanes Blade — it refines through seven stages, one per Cryo Statue of The Seven you awaken in Snezhnaya, with three stages reachable this version. Whitelake Frostfeather (Odette’s signature) is numerically slightly ahead but costs pulls. CN guides explicitly recommend nothing beyond these two.
Which artifact set should the Cryo Traveler use? Depends on the team: Disenchantment in Deep Shadow for Stellar-Conduct teams, Heart of the Furnace or Noblesse Oblige for Stellar Swirl quick-swap play. Furnace has a catch — its wearer must trigger a Stellar Glimmer reaction, and the Cryo Traveler does not apply Cryo from off-field.
How strong is the Cryo Traveler? About 78% of a C0 Sandrone at comparable investment — a stopgap in Stellar-Conduct teams, but within roughly 7% on the base multiplier in Stellar Swirl teams, which is their better home.
Are the Cryo Traveler’s constellations free? C1 and C2 are both obtainable in this version through the main quest and exploration — C1 fixes energy, C2 gives +120 EM to the Traveler or the on-field carry.
