Stellar reactions in Genshin 7.0, explained
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 11, 2026
Genshin’s first new reaction family in years arrives with 7.0 on 12 August. The official update notes give the family its formal name — Stellar Glimmer reactions, covering Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl — and settle several things the special program left open. Official facts below, kept separate from what still needs in-game verification.
The two reactions
- Stellar-Conduct (Cryo + Electro). An upgraded Superconduct: deals wide-area Stellar damage — a real damage reaction, not just the old resistance shred — and keys into Snezhnaya’s mechanisms, so parts of the new region’s exploration expect you to trigger it.
- Stellar Swirl (Cryo + Anemo). An upgraded Swirl: spawns a persistent vortex that stacks and then detonates. Officially, when the vortex explodes it grants nearby characters one higher jump for a short time — the exploration design plays with it. Triggering it also grants certain characters a “Radiance: Stellar Swirl” state that enhances some talents; there’s a matching “Radiance: Stellar-Conduct” state, which is the mode Odette uses to go on-field.
One scaling fact is already official: talent-driven Stellar Swirl damage can crit — a break from classic transformative reactions, and a hint the whole family scales differently. The full formulas remain unverified.
Who can trigger them
This is the part that decides team building:
- The Cryo Traveler — with them in the team, all Superconduct and Swirl triggers convert to the Stellar versions. Free for everyone: unlock guide here.
- Odette — the 7.0 banner 5-star does the same conversion and additionally boosts the team’s Stellar reaction damage; her shadow-summoning kit is built around keeping Cryo applied off-field.
- Alyosha — the free 4-star buffs Stellar-Conduct damage specifically from his burst field. How to get him →
Without one of the converters in the team, per current coverage, your Superconduct and Swirl stay the classic versions.
The gear that feeds it
The two new artifact sets now have official names and stats, both farmed in the new “Inverted Glacier” domain in Everfrozen Earth (full set guide):
- Heart of the Furnace — 2pc ATK +18%; 4pc boosts all nearby party members’ Stellar Glimmer damage by 50%, and it triggers from off-field. This is the teamwide engine — Odette’s best-in-slot per CN guides. Same-name set bonuses don’t stack across the party.
- Scarlet Proof — 2pc ATK +18%; 4pc gives the wearer 16% crit rate and 40% Stellar Swirl damage for 10s after triggering Stellar Swirl.
Five new forgeable weapons and five Battle Pass weapons arrive in the same version — including Emberwell, a forgeable sword whose passive scales off Stellar Glimmer triggers.
What we verify at launch
- Exact damage formulas and how Stellar Glimmer damage scales (crit is officially in for talent-driven Stellar Swirl; the rest of the formula isn’t public)
- Whether conversion applies to off-field triggers in every composition
- Whether Stellar Swirl’s vortex snapshots or dynamically rerolls
Numbers-versus-marketing is exactly where launch-day verification matters; this page gets its pass within hours of servers opening.
