What to do before Genshin 7.0 launches

Maintenance begins 12 August at 06:00 (UTC+8) and Snezhnaya opens about five hours later (countdown in your timezone). Everything below is marked official (from HoYoverse’s own notices) or community consensus (advice multiple established CN creators agree on — useful, but not from HoYoverse).

1. Start the preload — official

Pre-installation is already open per the official maintenance preview: Paimon menu → Pre-Install in game, or the official launcher on PC. Snezhnaya is a full new region, so the package will not be small — starting it the night before beats fighting launch-hour CDN traffic.

2. Cap your Condensed Resin — community consensus

The standard big-version move: before maintenance, convert the day’s Original Resin into Condensed Resin and sit at the cap of 5. That is up to a day of extra resin waiting on the other side for the new world boss materials.

One step further, and worth knowing: multiple CN creators advise not dumping resin into the new artifact domain in week one — versions of this size have historically shipped an artifact-selector event, and farming after claiming that is meaningfully cheaper. Community pattern, not a promise.

3. Hold your Primogems — community consensus

Phase 1 opens at launch: Odette, the Arlecchino rerun, and Alyosha on both banners. The one-line pull calculus circulating in CN communities: Odette’s value peaks if you run the units the new Stellar system feeds; and if you are saving for the Cryo Archon — CN roundups explicitly note the Tsaritsa is not in 7.0, with community expectation at 7.1 or later and nothing official. 4. The Android warning — official

The official device requirements notice confirms specs are unchanged for PC, iOS, consoles and most Android devices (Android minimum stays Snapdragon 660 / Helio G88, 4 GB RAM, Android 10). The catch: starting with 7.0, a small set of older Android GPUs may hit stability issues — HoYoverse published the affected list in that notice. If your phone is several generations old, check it before launch morning, not after.

Also practical: clear storage headroom before the update — a new nation plus new textures is the classic recipe for a failed-mid-download evening.

5. Close out the old version — official deadline

Whatever the current version still owes you — event shops, Battle Pass levels, unclaimed mail — maintenance at 06:00 (UTC+8) on 12 August is the deadline. The 300 Primogem maintenance compensation that follows requires only Adventure Rank 5, but event currencies do not migrate.

6. Plan your first hour — from the official program

The efficient opening, per what the special program showed: the Snezhnaya teleport waypoint unlocks automatically (details) → first Statue of The Seven unlocks the Cryo Traveler → the version event starts you toward the free 5-star Traveler sword. Cold-resistance consumables in your bag will not hurt — the subzero mechanic starts working on you immediately.
