Where to find Big Walk players (there is no matchmaking, so here is the map)
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 22, 2026
The best place right now is r/BigWalk’s Looking for Group megathread — a live one dated 22 August 2026 was pinned when we checked — backed up by the Steam Community discussions. There is no official Discord server to look for: we checked the official site, House House’s site, Panic’s site and the Steam page, and none of them links one.
This page exists because Big Walk has no matchmaking with strangers, and that is deliberate — House House built a long-form co-op game meant to be played by the same group across multiple sessions, so there is no queue to fall back on. The game needs 2 to 12 players and has no solo mode. If your friends are not online, the group has to come from somewhere — here is where.
Where to look
r/BigWalk — the game’s subreddit, and the closest thing Big Walk has to an LFG service. It runs a recurring Looking for Group Megathread; the one live when we checked was dated 22 August 2026, so they are current. Post there rather than as a standalone thread — that is where people looking to join are actually reading. The subreddit is also the right place to recruit a campaign crew: the game is designed for the same group returning across sessions, and Reddit posts stick around long enough to organise that.
Steam Community discussions — the general discussions board is active and good for same-day “anyone walking tonight?” posts. You will reach PC players first, but crossplay spans PC, Mac, PS5 and Switch 2, so a group formed on Steam’s forum does not have to stay Steam-only. (No Xbox version exists, so do not recruit for one.)
No official Discord. As of 22 August 2026, neither bigwalk.game (including the FAQ), nor House House’s site, nor publisher Panic’s site, nor the Steam store page links a Discord server — so any “official Big Walk Discord” invite you find floating around is unofficial by definition. Worth knowing anyway: House House discourages external voice tools during play, because distance-based talking is the core mechanic. Organise on whatever platform you like; talk in-game once you are walking.
How to write a useful LFG post
Big Walk groups fail for schedule reasons, not skill reasons — so a good post is mostly logistics:
[LFG] 3 of us want 2-3 more for a full campaign, weekends
Looking for: 2-3 players (group is 3, aiming for the 4-6 sweet spot)
Commitment: full campaign, ~8 hrs over 2-3 weekend sessions
Host: me — I can make every session (host holds the save)
Platforms: we're PC + PS5, any crossplay platform welcome
Comms: two of us on mic, typing is fine (text has full parity)
Timezone: evenings AEST
What the fields are doing:
- Say whether it is a one-shot walk or a campaign crew. These are different recruits. The campaign runs about eight hours, progress is saved by the host, and return sessions need that same person hosting — so a campaign post must name a host who can attend every session.
- Name your platforms. Any mix of PC, Mac, PS5 and Switch 2 works; there is no Xbox version.
- Mic is genuinely optional. In-game text chat has full feature parity with voice, walkie-talkies included, so do not turn away typers.
- Target headcount honestly. Anything from 2 to 12 works, but 4–6 is the sweet spot most groups land on; 8–12 is the party version where puzzles get split. Our player-count guide covers what each size changes.
Before you join (or post a code)
- Never post a Join Code in a public thread. Anyone with the code can join your session — and so can friends of anyone already in. A code posted to Reddit or Steam forums is an open door. Share codes by DM, after you have picked your people.
- Codes regenerate every session, so a leaked code does not haunt you forever — but it is live for the session you are in.
- Streaming? Set a password first. Session passwords live in the Session Details screen; without one, a code shown on stream lets viewers walk straight in.
- The host’s world-size choice is a minimum, not a cap. The host picks a 2-player, 3-player or 4+ version of the world; it configures the challenges but does not stop extra people joining. Pick for the core group that will definitely be there.
- When the host quits, everyone is disconnected — so when you join a stranger’s session, you are trusting their host stability and their save. For a long campaign with people you just met, agree up front on who hosts and when you play. If you cannot see each other’s sessions at all, that is usually connectivity, not crossplay — run the can’t-connect checklist.
FAQ
Does Big Walk have matchmaking with strangers? No, and it is deliberate — House House says the game is meant to be played by the same group across multiple sessions, so random matchmaking does not fit it. Groups form on r/BigWalk’s LFG megathread and Steam discussions instead.
Is there an official Big Walk Discord? Not that we could verify. As of 22 August 2026, the official site, House House’s site, Panic’s site and the Steam page link no Discord server — treat any “official” invite with suspicion. House House also discourages external voice tools during play, since in-game distance-based talking is the core mechanic.
How many players do I need to recruit? The game runs 2 to 12 with no solo mode. In practice 4–6 is the sweet spot; bigger groups split puzzles and finish faster, smaller ones see everything.
Is it safe to share my Join Code? With your group, yes — codes regenerate every session anyway. In public, no: anyone with the code can join, plus friends of anyone already in. Share by DM, and set a Session Details password if you stream.

Venues were verified on 22 August 2026: r/BigWalk was confirmed via its public feed — subreddit description matching the game (“developed by House House and published by Panic”) and a pinned “Looking for Group Megathread (22 August 2026)” on its front page; the Steam discussions board loaded as “Big Walk General Discussions”. The absence of an official Discord is from checking bigwalk.game and its FAQ, House House’s site, Panic’s site, and the Steam store page on the same date — none links a server. Game mechanics — the 2–12 range, no matchmaking by design, host-held saves, regenerating Join Codes, Session Details passwords, text-chat parity, the discouragement of external voice tools — are from the official FAQ as documented on our player-count and crossplay pages.
