Wuthering Waves 3.6 release time and update countdown

Wuthering Waves 3.6 — “Lamplight in Mirage, Sword’s Resolve in Heart” — launches on 20 August 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile. The countdown above runs in your own timezone.

What time does it unlock?

Kuro has announced the date, not the hour. That is normal for this game: the formal maintenance notice, with the exact start time and duration, usually lands a couple of days before the update.

Kuro has now confirmed it: maintenance runs 20 August, 04:00-11:00 (UTC+8) — seven hours — and the version opens when maintenance ends. It is a single window that applies to every region at once; this game shipped worldwide day-and-date and has kept its updates synchronized since, so there is no CN-first offset to think about (unlike some of its neighbors in the genre).

Pre-download opens two days earlier, on 18 August at 10:00 (UTC+8). Note that the figure Kuro publishes is free space required, not download size, and the gap is large: PC needs 50 GB free for a download of roughly 22 GB; Android and iOS need 33 GB free for roughly 13 GB. The space is consumed by the merge step after maintenance ends rather than by the download itself, so clear the headroom in advance.

When the official 3.6 maintenance notice is posted, this page gets the confirmed window and a per-region unlock table. Until then, the countdown runs to the start of 20 August where you are, labelled as exactly that.

Wuthering Waves 3.6 banners

• Phase 1 (from 20 August): Qingxiao debuts alongside a Denia rerun; the weapon banner pairs her signature 5-star Glint of Clouds with a Forged Dwarf Star rerun. Qingxiao is the version’s sword-immortal: her basic attacks charge twin gauges that unlock an empowered stance for wide-area Aero damage, and her kit is built around the coordinated-attack archetype — she wants her dedicated teammates.
• Phase 2 (10 September 10:00 – 29 September 11:59, server time): no debut — two reruns, Hiyuki on [Thousand Futures Mirrored in Snow] and Mornye on [Distant May the Starlights Be], with [Frostburn] and [Starfield Calibrator] on the weapon banners and Mortefi, Aalto and Yuanwu as the featured 4-stars. Corrected on 14 September: this page previously said Jingran debuts here. Kuro’s phase 2 convene notice of 8 September lists neither him nor a signature weapon for him, and phase 2 has run since 10 September without a convene article in his name.

The new region: a floating-sky district of Mengzhou

The new area is a floating archipelago in the clouds — suspended pavilions, mechanism vaults and cloud-sea vistas, with a new owl-automaton guide NPC and a fresh layer of side content threaded through it.

Sword Flight and the guqin

The headline mechanic is Sword Flight: once unlocked in the story, marked points on the map let you ride your blade across the cloud sea — a major traversal upgrade for the vertical map — alongside a new expedition motorbike. On the quieter side, a guqin performance mode ships with a built-in songbook, free composition and recording/sharing.

Story and new enemies

Chapter 4, Act 3 — “Song of the Heart Sword” — plus the segue chapter “Nethermancer’s Requiem” are live at launch, filling in the new region’s and both new Resonators’ backstories. Four new Echo enemies arrive, including the weekly-boss Calamity Effigy, the Skywatch Lancer and the Jade Nether Serpent.

Events

Six-plus events were confirmed: a seven-day login gift, the Resonance Sim Realm combat event (new Echoes and tuning materials), a co-op friend event, an Echo-boss challenge gauntlet, a Second Coming of Solaris rerun, and a guqin-themed music event.

Platform-wide optimization

• The engine’s underlying programming layer was replaced — an average of ~10 fps gained across all platforms, including low-end phones
• DLSS 4.5 on PC, with visibly reduced frame-generation artifacts
• Echo management rework — full stat preview before equipping and one-click multi-cost loadouts
• Mailbox cap raised to 200, plus one-click sharing for pulls and challenge scores

Wuthering Waves 3.6 codes (expired — next batch at launch)

The 3.6 special program issued three codes — HEARTOFSWORD, ETERNALFLAME and THEANSWER — and they expired on 9 August, as stream codes do.
