Aventurine • Waveflair — the bigger of 4.5's two pivots
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 14, 2026
Aventurine • Waveflair is a 5-star Quantum unit on the Path of Elation. That single line is the most important thing on this page, because it means the character sharing Aventurine’s name is not the character people remember.
Original Aventurine is Imaginary, Preservation — the shield-stacking sustain that holds a team together. Waveflair keeps neither the element nor the path. If you are budgeting for 4.5 assuming a second sustain option, that assumption is wrong.
The official pile
- Named in the special program announcement, which frames the version as a summer vacation with “Robin • Summeretto and Aventurine • Waveflair.”
- 5-star, Quantum, Path of Elation — from HoYoverse’s drip marketing, the pre-stream social reveal that carries rarity, element and path. This is an official reveal, not datamining.
- He is an SP form: a full new playable character with his own kit, not an outfit for the original.
- The version “To Roll the Stars in Astropolis” is a Trailblaze Continuance set, in HoYoverse’s wording, “shortly — or perhaps a long time — after the conclusion of our journey in Planarcadia.”
Why the Elation path is the interesting part
Elation is Aha’s path, and the version has been leaning that way in the run-up — HoYoverse’s own “Aha Instant” post landed on 11 August, days before the program.
The practical consequence for a roster: Elation units are damage-and-disruption, not protection. Pairing Waveflair with the original Aventurine is not redundant the way two Preservation units would be, which is an unusual position for two versions of one character to be in.
The test-server pile — treat as directional
Pre-stream roundups describe a stacking resource that converts ally attacks into repeated Elation-path damage: he accumulates stacks whenever he or his teammates hit enemies, then spends them on follow-up damage as a main DPS rather than a support. The stack names differ between roundups, which is the usual sign that numbers and wording are still moving between builds.
Take the shape, not the specifics. Star Rail’s test builds reordered Robin • Summeretto’s kit repeatedly across V1–V3, and there is no reason to think this one is more settled.
Which phase
Schedule-site reporting places him in phase 2 (roughly 16 September – 6 October), after Robin • Summeretto in phase 1. That is reporting rather than announcement, and the special program tonight is what converts it into a date you can budget against.
If it holds, the two headliners never share a banner window — so this is a “pick one, then pick the other” version rather than a single expensive decision.
What settles tonight
The special program (14 August, 19:30 UTC+8) shows the real kit, the phase order, and the reruns sharing each window. Release notes on update day fix the numbers.
This page gets updated at both checkpoints, and anything above that the stream contradicts gets visibly corrected rather than quietly rewritten.
