Is Clawed Co-Op or Multiplayer?
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 8, 2026
Yes. Clawed has online co-op. Steam lists both Online Co-op and Single-player, and Flatrock Games explicitly invites players to bring friends. What has not been announced is the maximum number of players in a Clawed session. If you came here for a confirmed party-size number, Flatrock Games has not said.
The distinction matters. “Multiplayer” can mean a lot of things: competitive modes, local split screen, public matchmaking, or a simple online co-op invite. The official Clawed information confirms the last of those. It does not confirm the rest.
Launch record — 5 September 2026
Clawed shipped on 13 August 2026 at $19.99, Windows only. On 5 September 2026, the Steam rating was Mixed (388 positive / 353 negative on 5 September). By that date, Flatrock Games had pushed five patches — 1.01 (15 Aug), 1.02 (16 Aug), 1.03 (20 Aug), 1.04 (27 Aug) and 1.05 (29 Aug) — mostly quest, save and co-op fixes; 1.04 fixed co-op respawning at the pier instead of the last checkpoint and joining players spawning at the pier, 1.05 fixed a GPU-driver crash tied to the Toy puzzle. In the 100 most recent negative English reviews sampled on 5 September, co-op and connection problems were the top complaint (24), followed by black screens on load (17), save problems (17) and stutter (16). Valve’s Steam Deck verdict recorded on 5 September was Unsupported. Everything below was written around launch and is kept as the record; where a section said “unverified until the game ships”, this block is the verification.
What Clawed officially confirms about co-op
The Clawed Steam page carries the Online Co-op category. Its official description says: “Fight dinos, explore the park and solve puzzles with your teammates! Invite your friends to join you on your Journey through Prehistoria.” The same wording appears on the Flatrock Games Clawed page.
That is a direct yes to the useful questions:
- Is Clawed co-op? Yes, online co-op is officially listed.
- Is Clawed multiplayer? Yes, in the online co-op sense.
- Can you invite friends? Yes; the official description says to invite them.
- Can you also play alone? Yes; Steam also lists Single-player.
The wording also establishes the broad co-op activity: friends can fight dinosaurs, explore the park, and solve puzzles together. It does not describe the exact invitation screen, friend-list flow, lobby settings, or joining rules. Flatrock Games has not said, so there is no reason to invent menu-by-menu instructions that could be wrong when the game launches on August 13, 2026.
Steam additionally lists Family Sharing. That is a Steam store feature label, not proof of a particular co-op setup, extra player slot, or cross-platform option. For the separate crossplay question, see is Clawed crossplay?.
How many players can play Clawed?
The official player cap is unknown. Neither the Steam page nor the developer’s site states a maximum party size. That remains the most accurate answer to “Clawed game how many players.”
You may see a claim that most modes support up to four people. That comes from a ScreenRant article that says so, while also describing a tourism mode. ScreenRant does not identify a source for the player count. Flatrock Games and the Steam page have not confirmed it. Treat “four players” as an unverified media report, not a confirmed feature or a basis for planning your group.
This is not a semantic quibble. A co-op tag tells you that friends can play online together; it does not tell you whether everyone can join the same activity, what the party cap is, or whether an individual mode has different limits. Until the developer names a number, the honest answer is simply that the cap has not been announced.
Can you play the Clawed demo with friends?
Yes, the official December 2025 Q&A confirms that the demo has had co-op. The developer wrote: “Anyone who has played Clawed demo in Co-op has probably seen several key areas that still needed work.” That line is important because it is a direct developer acknowledgement both that demo co-op exists and that it had meaningful early problems.
Flatrock Games did not brush those problems aside. In the same official Steam news stream, it said: “While we were doing our best to patch the co-op systems, we decided to go back and rework some systems entirely.” It also said it wanted more testing “so that we can be sure of a solid co-op experience at release.”
The planned response was equally specific: “we will be bringing our improved Co-op systems to the demo in the near future to stress test them in a public setting.” So, is the Clawed demo co-op? Yes. Is it sensible to assume every demo session will be trouble-free? No. The developer itself documented areas that needed work and said it was reworking systems.
An older August 2025 Steam-discussion post relayed a Discord claim that multiplayer was not yet in the demo. The December official Q&A is the later, direct developer statement, so it is the source to rely on for this question. It does not establish a player cap, an invite procedure, or a promise that every co-op issue is resolved.
If the demo multiplayer is not working
Start with the context above: this is not a case where players have to guess whether the developer knows about early co-op problems. Flatrock Games publicly acknowledged them and described a rework. For a conservative PC troubleshooting checklist—without pretending there is a confirmed Clawed-only workaround—use Clawed multiplayer not working.
That page covers general actions such as verifying installed files, eliminating overlay conflicts, and rebuilding a room. They are practical checks, not announced co-op patch notes. If a specific error, party cap, or invite setting is not documented by Flatrock Games, it belongs in the “not said” column.
What co-op does not confirm
The Steam listing does not show PvP, Shared/Split Screen, or a local multiplayer category. Do not translate “Online Co-op” into a promise of couch co-op or competitive multiplayer. Those are separate features and have not been announced here.
Likewise, co-op does not make Clawed a cross-platform game. Steam lists Windows, while no console edition has been announced. The direct answer on PS5, Xbox, PS4, Switch, and Game Pass is in Clawed console platforms. For the exact Windows requirements and the unconfirmed Steam Deck situation, read Clawed PC requirements and Steam Deck.
Bottom line
Clawed is officially an online co-op game, and the official description says you can invite friends to fight dinosaurs, explore, and solve puzzles together. The demo has co-op too, but Flatrock Games has openly said its early co-op areas needed work and that systems were being reworked for further public stress testing.
One detail is still unknown: the maximum number of players. ScreenRant reports four for most modes, but it gives no source and neither the developer nor Steam confirms it. For that reason, “up to four” is not an answer DayOneFix can verify. Flatrock Games has not said.
Sources
The Online Co-op and Single-player categories, the Family Sharing label, the absence of PvP and Shared/Split Screen categories, and the quoted store description come from the Clawed Steam store page, checked 17 August 2026; the same description appears on the Flatrock Games Clawed page. The demo-era quotes — that key co-op areas still needed work, that some systems were reworked entirely, and that improved co-op systems would return to the demo for public stress testing — are from Flatrock’s December 2025 Q&A on the official Clawed Steam news hub. The four-player figure is flagged as an unverified media claim because that is what it is: it comes from ScreenRant, which names no source, and neither Steam nor the developer confirms it. The older August 2025 Steam-discussion post relaying a Discord claim that the demo had no multiplayer is described here as a community post and deliberately not linked as evidence; the December Q&A is the later, direct developer statement. Where this page says something has not been announced, both the store page and the news hub were checked.
