Marvel's Wolverine is out — released 15 September 2026: the launch record
Marvel's Wolverine releases on
15 September 2026
Released. Sony never published an unlock hour, but every regional PlayStation Store carried a release timestamp and all eighteen we checked resolved to local midnight on 15 September — which is how it played out, region by region, with no reports of a different time. The North American catch was real: the US store runs on Eastern, so the Pacific coast unlocked at 21:00 on 14 September rather than midnight.

Marvel’s Wolverine — from Insomniac Games, exclusive to PlayStation 5 — released on 15 September 2026. This page keeps the launch record: unlock times by region, editions, download size and launch-day status.
What time does it unlock?
Sony has never announced an hour. But every regional PlayStation Store ships a release timestamp in its own product data, and on 13 September we read it out of eighteen of them. They agree: local midnight on 15 September, everywhere.
| Store region | Store timestamp (UTC) | Local unlock |
|---|---|---|
| United States, Canada | 15 Sep 04:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 ET |
| Mexico | 15 Sep 06:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 CST |
| Brazil | 15 Sep 03:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 BRT |
| United Kingdom | 14 Sep 23:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 BST |
| Germany, France, Spain, Italy | 14 Sep 22:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 CEST |
| India | 14 Sep 18:30 | 15 Sep 00:00 IST |
| Hong Kong, Singapore | 14 Sep 16:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 HKT / SGT |
| Japan, Korea | 14 Sep 15:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 JST / KST |
| Australia | 14 Sep 14:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 AEST |
| New Zealand | 14 Sep 12:00 | 15 Sep 00:00 NZST |
The one trap is the United States. Sony’s US store carries a single timestamp and it is Eastern, so the Pacific coast does not get midnight — it gets 21:00 on Monday 14 September. Mountain and Central land at 22:00 and 23:00 on the 14th. If you are west of New York, the game unlocks on the 14th for you.
Two honest caveats. This is store metadata, not an announcement, and Sony can move a timestamp without telling anyone. And the timestamp is the store’s, which historically matches when the licence flips — but a console that has not finished its download will not care what time it is.
”Early unlock” in the pre-order bonus does not mean playing early
This is the detail worth being precise about, because the wording invites a misread.
Pre-ordering gets you an early unlock for the Classic Brown suit, an early unlock of the Reflective Claws, one Technique Point and four PlayStation Avatars. “Early unlock” means those items become available sooner inside the game than they otherwise would. It does not mean access to the game before 15 September.
No edition plays early:
- Standard Edition — $69.99
- Digital Deluxe Edition — $79.99; five exclusive suits, five exclusive claws, four Technique Points, plus the pre-order incentives
- Digital Deluxe upgrade — $10 for Standard owners
Preload and download size
Preload opened on 8 September 2026 — players on r/PS5 confirmed it that day. Sony never announced it; the date came from the PlayStation Game Size database, which reads Sony’s own content servers, and the players matched it.
The numbers, all from that same database rather than from Insomniac:
| Base download | 79.36 GB |
| After day-one patch 01.001.001 | roughly 81.4 GB installed |
| Update 01.001.003 | 978 MB, already shipped |
Leave headroom above 81 GB. Patches download on top of what you have rather than replacing it, and Insomniac shipped a second update almost immediately.
Launch-day status: no issue wave
Updated 15 September. We checked before writing a known-issues page and did not find one worth publishing. r/PS5’s official discussion thread runs to hundreds of comments with essentially no technical complaints in it — one commenter’s summary is “literally no one claimed that this game is a broken mess.” The criticism landing on this game is about design: corridor level layouts and combat that reviewers found repetitive, which is where the Metacritic 77 comes from.
If a real issue cluster appears we will publish a tracker for it, the way we do for other launches. We are not going to invent one because a big game came out.
Our Marvel’s Wolverine coverage
- Graphics modes on PS5 and PS5 Pro — Performance Pro vs Fidelity Pro, and the 40fps mode the menu hides unless your console outputs 120Hz
- Combat systems before you start — Rage’s three tiers, the four equippable Special Techniques, Adaptations, and why reviewers call the tree shallow
- Trophy list — 42 trophies, 102 collectibles, no difficulty trophies and nothing missable
- Gore and difficulty settings — what Violence Customization actually turns off, and the difficulty sliders hidden in the accessibility menu
- The Scent Trail row — what Insomniac actually said, and which assists you can turn down

FAQ
What time does Marvel's Wolverine unlock?
Midnight local time on 15 September, going by the release timestamps in Sony's own regional stores — 04:00 UTC for the US, 23:00 UTC on the 14th for the UK, 15:00 UTC on the 14th for Japan and Korea, 16:00 UTC for Hong Kong and Singapore. Sony has not announced an hour, so this is store metadata rather than a statement. Pacific-coast players are the exception: the US store runs on Eastern time, which puts the unlock at 21:00 on 14 September.
Does the Digital Deluxe Edition give early access?
No. The Digital Deluxe adds five suits, five claws and four Technique Points, and launches on the same date as Standard. No edition is sold with an early play window.
What do the pre-order bonuses actually give you?
Early unlocks for Wolverine's Classic Brown suit and Reflective Claws, one Technique Point and four PlayStation Avatars. 'Early unlock' here means the items are available sooner inside the game — it does not mean playing before release day.
How big is Marvel's Wolverine and can I preload it?
Reported at 79.36 GB, with preloads said to have opened on 8 September 2026. Both figures come from the PlayStation Game Size database rather than from Sony or Insomniac, so leave headroom — day-one patches on Insomniac titles have run a few gigabytes on top.
Is Marvel's Wolverine coming to PC?
No PC version has been announced. It is listed as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with PS5 Pro enhancements.
