Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Guide: Post-Launch Answers and PC Specs

By DayOneFix Editorial · August 9, 2026

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a large-scale PvP simulation from Expression Games, published by Team17. It released on August 13, 2026 and Steam lists it at $39.99. Its confirmed platforms are PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Steam classifies it as Action, Massively Multiplayer, Simulation, and Strategy, with Multi-player, PvP, Online PvP, and Cross-Platform Multiplayer labels. The source for the store facts is the official Steam page; Team17’s platform wording appears in its official Steam announcements.

This Hell Let Loose: Vietnam guide is a sourced launch index rather than a speculative wiki. Where Team17 or Expression Games has not published a detail, this page says so. That matters for server populations, subscription rules, voice chat, and player counts: a useful answer should distinguish a confirmed feature from something that simply sounds plausible.

Release, developer, publisher, and game type

Expression Games develops Hell Let Loose: Vietnam and Team17 publishes it. The game released on August 13, 2026, and the Steam listing gives the price as $39.99, with no discount running — both checked on the Steam store page on 23 August 2026. Pre-launch coverage and store data carried a $35.99 figure; that number no longer applies. Team17 has not said whether every region uses the same amount or whether separate editions and bonuses exist.

The official Steam categories establish the broad format: Action, Massively Multiplayer, Simulation, and Strategy. Its feature labels establish Multi-player, PvP, Online PvP, and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. Together, those official labels support the plain description “large-scale PvP simulation”; they do not justify inventing maps, weapon lists, server counts, or modes that have not been announced.

Crossplay: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

Crossplay is officially confirmed. Steam’s listing carries a Cross-Platform Multiplayer category, and Team17’s July 31 Q&A says a priority of the rebuilt online architecture was “providing the same core online experience across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.” That direct wording confirms the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S scope.

The best practical detail is the server name. Team17’s July 24 announcement says to “check the letter at the end of the server name to identify the supported platform.” X means Xbox-only, P means PS5-only, and C means crossplay between Xbox and PS5. A server without those endings supports full cross-platform multiplayer. The full explanation, including why a C server is not necessarily a PC-inclusive result, is in the crossplay guide.

The July crossplay playtest required PS+ or Xbox Game Pass Essential on consoles. That was a playtest access condition. Team17 has not said that it is a subscription requirement for the released game, so do not make a purchasing decision from that test rule alone. The console guide covers the confirmed platforms without treating Steam’s Windows listing as a PC-only announcement.

Player count and test scale

Team17’s July 31 Q&A says the team runs one or two full 100-player internal playtests each week. That is the precise supported statement: officially mentioned 100-player internal tests. It should not be restated as “every match has 100 players,” because Team17 has not defined the retail match player count in that quote.

Voice chat: fixed and unresolved issues

The voice-chat status has an important split. Team17’s July 30 update says, “Players should no longer experience the robotic voice effect in Command Chat or Squad Chat.” That is the officially fixed part. It then says, “The remaining Proximity Chat issue requires an update to the Epic Online Services (EOS) voice chat system.” That is the unresolved part, and the dependency is EOS rather than an update Expression Games controls.

For a mic that is not working, start with safe PC fundamentals: select the active Windows input device and volume, make Steam use the same mic, temporarily disable exclusive microphone access, confirm firewall permission, and reconnect. Those steps can rule out local device and connection issues, but they do not convert the outstanding Proximity Chat dependency into a resolved bug. The exact status and checklist are on Hell Let Loose: Vietnam voice chat and VOIP fixes.

Post-launch updates

Team17 pushed Hotfix 1 on August 16, three days after release. A separate August 14 announcement says the game runs on SteamOS and Linux; read that as compatibility-layer support rather than a native port, because the Steam store page still lists Windows as the only native platform — that was still true when we checked the listing on 23 August 2026. Both announcements are in Team17’s official Steam announcements.

Official PC system requirements

Steam lists Windows 10/11 64-bit for the PC version, with DirectX 12 and broadband internet. It lists no Mac or Linux requirements. Here are the published tiers:

RequirementMinimumRecommended
Operating systemWindows 10 64-bitWindows 11 64-bit

Storage30 GB30 GB
Official performance note1080p 60fps; TSR 71% or DLSS Ultra Performance1080p 60fps; TSR 100% High or DLSS Balanced

Minimum and recommended both specify 16 GB RAM and 30 GB storage, and both target 1080p at 60fps. The published difference is the CPU/GPU tier and TSR/DLSS mode: minimum uses TSR 71% or DLSS Ultra Performance, while recommended uses TSR 100% High or DLSS Balanced. This is an official target, not a site benchmark.

Platforms, store categories, language support and the system-requirements table come from the Steam store page. Three items on that listing were re-checked there on 23 August 2026: the release status (released, not coming soon, dated 13 August 2026), the $39.99 price with no discount running, and the Windows-only native platform list. The store categories, language support and the system-requirements table were not re-verified today; they are as that listing published them when this page was written. The server-suffix rule (July 24), the platform-scope wording from the July 31 Q&A, and the two-part voice-chat status quoted from the July 30 update — the robotic voice effect fixed in Command and Squad Chat, the remaining Proximity Chat issue waiting on an Epic Online Services update — are all in Team17’s official Steam announcements. Hotfix 1 (16 August) and the SteamOS/Linux note (14 August) come from that same announcements feed; both are carried over from our Traditional Chinese edition of this page, which cited them when it was checked on 17 August 2026, and we did not re-open those two announcements today. The PS Plus and Game Pass Essential requirement described here was a July playtest access condition, and the page keeps it labelled that way. The mic checklist summarised in the voice section is generic PC audio troubleshooting, not an official Team17 procedure. Anywhere this page says Team17 has not said something, both the store page and the announcements feed were checked.
