Arknights: Endfield lag: work out which half it is before you change anything

“Endfield is lagging” covers two problems that have nothing to do with each other. One lives in your GPU, the other lives between you and a server on another continent. The fixes do not overlap at all, and most of the wasted troubleshooting in this game comes from applying one to the other.

A dense Arknights: Endfield AIC base seen from above — dozens of white and grey production machines packed onto plots, linked by belts, blue and green fluid pipes, and rows of power pylons firing green beams across the field
A base this dense is the single heaviest thing the game asks a PC to draw — and the first place a frame-rate problem shows itself · Official screenshot © GRYPHLINE

The ten-second test

Next time it happens, look at the frame counter instead of the ping number.

Both at once is possible and common on a heavy base — fix the frame rate first, because it is the half you fully control.

What the specs actually promise

The official tiers are more modest than people assume, and it is worth knowing what each one is aiming at:

TierCPUGPURAMTarget
MinimumIntel Core i5-9400F or equivalentGTX 1060 6GB or equivalent16 GB1080p / 30 fps, low settings
RecommendedIntel Core i7-10700K or equivalentRTX 2060 or equivalent16 GB1080p / 60 fps, higher settings

Note the minimum tier is a 30 fps target. If you are on roughly minimum hardware expecting 60, the game is behaving as specified and no setting will bridge that gap — you are choosing between resolution and frame rate, not fixing a fault.

Two hardware-specific patterns get reported often enough to mention: 4 GB cards (a GTX 1650, for instance) show texture pop-in during cutscenes, and installing on a mechanical hard drive produces loading screens around thirty seconds long when moving between base areas. Neither is a bug; both are the storage and VRAM budget showing through.

The overlay and frame-interpolation trap

This is the highest-yield fix on the page because it is officially acknowledged and almost nobody checks it.

Applications that apply filters or AI frame interpolation on top of the game are a known cause of freezes. Endfield’s known-issues list names the category directly, and the recommended action is simply to disable those functions in whatever program is doing it.

The confusion is that Endfield itself ships with DLSS 4 (including Multi-Frame Generation), AMD FSR and Intel XeSS, and those are supported features. Frame generation inside the game is not the problem. A third-party tool generating frames on top of a game that is already doing it is.

So, in order:

”It started lagging after a driver update”

This phrasing shows up constantly, and it usually means one of two things. Either the new driver genuinely regressed for your card — roll back and see — or the driver update re-enabled a driver-level overlay or frame-generation setting you had turned off, which puts you straight back into the paragraph above. Check the driver control panel before you blame the driver itself.

Two specific freezes with specific fixes

The official sequence, and the part that matters

Gryphline’s own answer for login, stuttering and crash issues is short:

The genuinely useful part is what they ask for when that fails. A ticket without these gets a form reply; a ticket with them gets looked at:

Collect the logs while the problem is fresh — they roll over.

Sources

The troubleshooting sequence, the escalation checklist and the exact log paths come from the official Arknights: Endfield Help Center. The third-party filter / AI frame-interpolation freeze, the “Releasing Resources” startup freeze, the abnormal-area freeze with the Unstuck control and the PS5 storage error are from Game8’s Endfield known-issues tracker, which follows the official notices. System-requirement tiers and the DLSS 4 / FSR / XeSS support are as published for the PC release and reported by PCGamesN; the 4 GB-card and mechanical-drive patterns are widely reported player experience rather than official statements.
