Arknights: Endfield beginner mistakes, sorted by whether they're mechanics or opinions
By DayOneFix Editorial · August 24, 2026
The mistakes that cost you in Arknights: Endfield are the ones you don’t feel. A mining rig sitting on the wrong node, quietly doubling your power draw for a fortnight. A depot that hit its cap on Tuesday and stopped the line behind it. Gold gear you kept meaning to finish. Forty levels later you’re wondering why everything is slow, and the answer is a decision you made once and never went back to.
Combat mistakes announce themselves. You die, you retry, you learn. Factory and progression mistakes just sit there. So this page sorts the known ones into two piles: things Hypergryph’s own version notes confirm are mechanics, and things that are only somebody’s opinion — labelled, because the second pile is delivered with exactly as much confidence as the first.
The Chinese community has produced three separate 「毒攻略」 roundups — literally “poison guide” roundups, cataloguing widely-shared advice that cost people resources. Two circulate on WeChat; 叶lele’s video version has around 227,000 plays. Three independent lists for one game is itself the finding. We use them as leads and check each claim.
Mistakes that are mechanics
1. Treating the AIC Factory as optional side content
The most common one and the most expensive. Endfield’s own store description says the AIC Factory produces “various gear, explosives, batteries, tactical items, and other materials,” and tells you to “let your industrial capacity power every exploration and battle.”
That is the dependency, stated plainly. Your combat power sits downstream of factory throughput. If a main mission has become a wall, the fix is at least as likely to be in your production lines as in your team.
You can see how central it is from what each side of the internet made most-watched. In Chinese, it’s 梦轩dada handing you a finished Valley IV base at roughly 8.9 million plays. In English, it’s Let’s Game It Out at about 3.1 million views, titled “They Asked for a Factory, I Built Them a Chaotic Nightmare,” spending half an hour torturing the same system for comedy. Two completely different instincts, one shared conclusion: the factory is the game.
2. Putting the Electric Mining Rig Mk II on a node that doesn’t need it
The single funniest and most-shared base mistake in Chinese. 小四妖妖灵’s video is titled 「是谁还在用二级矿机挖一级矿?能劝一个是一个」 — who is still running a tier-two rig on a tier-one node? I’ll talk one of you out of it if it’s the last thing I do — and it has about 850,000 plays.
The top comment, at 6,300 likes, is the part nobody works out by feel: both rig tiers transmit wirelessly, so the Mk II isn’t saving you a belt; the Mk II draws double what the basic rig draws; and extraction rate is set by the node’s density, not by the rig standing on it. On a node the basic rig can work, the Mk II is a doubled bill for zero return.
This one is community measurement, not published mechanics — worth the label because it changes what you build. It is cross-checked, though: a clip of MR流星飞, one of the biggest base creators, shows him puzzling over a viewer’s absurd power draw and then spotting Mk II rigs parked on basic ore.
The over-correction, from the same thread at 871 likes, is the better warning: a player worked out the doubling, remembered portable miners need no power at all, walked the entire map swapping rigs and pulling up pylons as he went — and woke up to a production line fast asleep. He fixed the power bill by removing the power.
3. Reading “no power” as “not enough generation”
Officially, electricity is distributed from the Protocol Automation-Core through Relay Towers and Electric Pylons to connected facilities. A facility that is not on the network is not short of power; it is short of a wire. Adding generation will not touch it.
Three questions, in order: is it generated, does it reach, is the facility researched in the AIC Factory Plan? Most “my base ran out of electricity” posts are question two.
4. Letting something sit at cap
The Chinese word is 爆仓 — a buffer or depot hitting its limit. When an output has nowhere to go, that machine stops, and everything feeding it stops behind it, silently and upstream of wherever you’d think to look.
The two communities converged on this independently, which is what makes it worth stating flatly rather than hedging. MR流星飞’s 1.4 build (about 2.95 million plays) is sold on the phrase 「爆仓自动处理」 — overflow handled automatically — with a whole outpost in it dedicated to destroying surplus. 金乌___’s blueprint description warns to sell the premium injections first, because if that stock overflows it jams the battery line outright. Meanwhile, in English, KyoStinV published an “Overflow Protector” (about 137,000 views) explicitly to “protect your base from Clogging when your items reaches depot limit,” EODGamer has a guide called “Factory Always CLOGGING?”, and NITrogen has an “Anti-Clog / Overflow System.”
Two communities that don’t read each other, both building a bin whose only job is to throw things away. A full buffer is a stopped factory.
5. Tearing out a working line before the replacement is down
The nastiest failure in the game is a loop, and someone posted it as 「让人想不到的终末地毁号方式」 — the account-ruining method nobody sees coming, about 158,000 plays. Halfway through copying a base guide they dismantled the battery production line. Stored batteries drained. There is no bench-craft and no shop for batteries, so there was no power left to restart the line that makes the power.
Most graduation blueprints tell you to clear the base first. Do it with charge in hand, and put the power line back before anything else.
Those last four are one family of problem, and they present the same way — a factory that looks fine and isn’t running:
| What you see | What it usually is | First thing to check |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing produced overnight, grid looks healthy | Something upstream is sitting at cap | The item most likely to overflow — sell or exchange it first |
| One building idle, everything else fine | It isn’t connected | Trace the pylon chain to that specific building |
| Power draw far higher than the build should need | Mk II rigs on nodes a basic rig could work | Every mining rig, one by one |
| Line stopped right after a fast travel | A conduit connection broke | The conduit inlet and outlet at both ends |
| Base went fully dark and won’t restart | Battery line was removed or starved | Whether you have any charge left to cold-start with |
6. Copying a blueprint from the wrong version — or the wrong region
Blueprints are an official feature and copying them is officially encouraged. But a blueprint carries assumptions, and two of them are enforced by the game:
- Region. The official [Homecoming] notes state that AIC facilities granted on entering Wuling “are not yet usable in Valley IV, and can only be used there after you research the corresponding AIC technologies in the Basic AIC Plan.”
- Version. Gas facilities and their AIC Plans — Gas Extraction, Gas Purification, Fluid-Gas Transmutation and the rest — arrived in 1.4. A blueprint from 1.0 cannot contain them. The AIC Factory Plan changed across 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4 too.
There is also a hard ceiling nobody mentions until you hit it: blueprints have a saving limit on facility count. Version 1.5 adds a live counter during box selection precisely because people kept exceeding it and having to start the selection over.
And a third thing, visible if you actually read the descriptions: these codes get hotfixed. MR流星飞’s 1.4 build carries a dated changelog inside its own description — a belt tile added one day, a startup failure patched the next. The code you saved last week may not be the code its author is publishing today.
The full pre-copy checklist is on our base building guide.
7. Fast travelling mid-run, and leaving kit out in the world
Version 1.4’s notes added a confirmation prompt for when teleportation would break a conduit connection. Nobody adds a confirmation dialogue for a thing that never happens. The same patch changed conduit distance to straight-line measurement, raising the cap from 200 metres to 300, and started saving conduit connection states with blueprints.
Also from 1.4: facilities placed outside the Sub-PAC areas — “including but not limited to Relay Towers, Electric Pylons, ziplines, and combat facilities” — can be stashed back to the regional depot with the [Stash] button on the map. If you have pylons and ziplines scattered across old zones since launch, they are recoverable, and they are doing nothing where they are.
8. Believing you have to finish Valley IV before seeing Wuling
Since 1.4 there is a permanent activity, [Main Mission Early Unlock: Wuling]. Finish Chapter I Process II: Remediation Progress and you can accept Chapter II main missions early from the Event screen. Chapters run at the same time and, officially, “you may return to Valley IV at any time to continue playing Chapter I content.” Most Wuling enemies scale to your Exploration Level.
Going early doesn’t lock you out. Staying isn’t required. Guides written before 1.4 assume otherwise, and plenty of them are still the top result.
9. Not artificing your Gold gear because you’re waiting for something better
All the bad-advice roundups list the same item: don’t artifice your Gold gear, wait for a higher tier. One compares it to not eating today so you can eat more later.
What is verifiable: Gear Artificing exists now and Hypergryph keeps building on it. Version 1.4 expanded advanced assembly techniques so Gold-quality gear can switch between compatible techniques, with a 99% discount on stock bill consumption when using the newest one. Version 1.5 adds an [Auto-Artificer] tab that filters eligible gear for a given stat automatically, assembles one piece at a time, and returns unused materials if artificing finishes early — plus a [Gear Plan] feature for switching whole gear sets in one click.
Meanwhile the word “Gold” does not appear at all in the 1.5 DEV Comm, and no gear tier above Gold appears anywhere in the official version notes we can read. We can’t prove a negative about unannounced content. But “wait for the next tier” currently rests on nothing published, while the cost of waiting is charged to you today.
10. Spending your stamina on the wrong Essences
This one is bigger in English than in Chinese, which is unusual. IWinToLose’s video — about 234,000 views, titled “DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE I DID WITH ESSENCES!” — opens on the fact that Essences are the main stamina drain in the game. On the Chinese side the equivalent is 春风满马’s 「基质最速毕业」 at around 2.3 million plays, framed as speed rather than regret.
The reason to take it seriously is what Hypergryph did about it. Version 1.5 adds a [Progression Overview] showing every owned, unowned and upcoming operator and weapon alongside the materials each build needs and how many you currently hold — and for upcoming operators, it previews their recommended weapons’ perfect-match essences so you can add them straight to your Essence Wishlist. A publisher does not build that screen unless a lot of people were farming the wrong things.
Until 1.5 lands, the version of that advice you can act on now is simply: know which essence you are farming for before you spend the stamina, not after.
Mistakes that are only community opinion
These come from the same roundups and may well be right. They are not mechanics, and anyone presenting them as certainties is overselling.
- “Don’t spend guarantee currency on crowns.” All the roundups say players who converted scarce guarantee resources into crowns regretted it, because crowns were later handed out generously. The top comment on 叶lele’s roundup sharpens it to a general point about first-time gacha players spending non-renewable pull count on renewable materials. That’s hindsight about future generosity, not a rule. It could reverse.
- “Rerolling because you pulled Ember was a mistake.” The roundups argue Ember was badly underrated at launch and is now a core pick in high-difficulty content. That is a meta judgement. The transferable lesson is the meta one: day-one tier lists on a game with an unfinished roster are the least reliable advice you will ever act on.
- “Take the weapon, not the currency, in the web event choice.” Presented as obvious in hindsight because the currency became plentiful later. The most-liked comment on 叶lele’s roundup calls this the largest-scale bad call of the whole launch. It is still a claim about future drop rates.
- “Monthly passes are a net loss.” One roundup calls this the most absurd claim in circulation. We have not measured it, and the value of a paid product depends on how much you play.
- “Hoarding Sanity meds for a future discount event is pointless.” The roundups agree, and say the discount events cap the number of reduced-cost runs. We could not verify a per-event usage cap in official notes — the 1.4 notes name [Sanity Usage Permit] and [Emergency Sanity Booster] as event rewards without publishing limits — so this one stays labelled community-documented. It is the entry on this list with the most independent agreement on a mechanism.
There is also a meta-observation worth repeating, from the top comment on 叶lele’s roundup: the word 毒攻略 has become so common that people’s brains now filter the entire category out. That is the real damage. Bad advice that is loud enough long enough makes readers stop reading good advice too.
And one thing that isn’t a mistake at all
“The Steam page says Coming soon, so the game isn’t out.”
Both halves are true and the conclusion is wrong. The Steam listing for Arknights: Endfield does say “This game is not yet available on Steam” with a release date of Coming soon and no date attached — checked 24 August 2026.
The game has been live for months. Hypergryph’s own [Homecoming] update notes give per-platform update instructions for iOS, Android, PlayStation 5 and PC via the GRYPHLINK launcher, and it is on the Epic Games Store too. The July 2026 DEV Comm opens with “since the official release, we have journeyed alongside you for half a year.”
Endfield is out, on four platforms, in step across Asia and Americas/Europe servers. Only the Steam version is announced and undated. If you have been waiting for a Steam release to start playing, you have been waiting for a store page.
FAQ
What is the biggest beginner mistake in Arknights: Endfield? Treating the AIC Factory as optional. The official store description says automated production supplies your gear, explosives, batteries and tactical items and tells you to let your industrial capacity power every exploration and battle. An idle base caps your combat power.
Why is my power draw so high? Check every mining rig. The most-shared base mistake in the Chinese community — about 850,000 plays on one video — is running Electric Mining Rig Mk II units on nodes a basic rig could work. Community measurement, not published by Hypergryph, is that the Mk II draws double while extraction rate is set by the node’s density rather than the rig. Verify it on your own base.
My factory looks fine but produced nothing overnight. Why? Almost always something sitting at its depot cap. A full output stops that machine and everything feeding it, upstream of where you’d look. Both the Chinese and English communities independently built dedicated bins to destroy surplus for exactly this reason.
Why doesn’t the blueprint I copied work? Usually one of four things: it uses facilities from a later version (gas facilities only exist from 1.4), it was built in Wuling and you’re in Valley IV without the matching Basic AIC Plan research, it exceeds the blueprint saving limit on facility count, or the author has since patched the code and you saved an old one.
Why did my base stop working after I teleported? Teleportation can break a conduit connection. Version 1.4 added a confirmation prompt for exactly this, and raised the conduit distance limit from 200 to 300 metres measured in a straight line.
Should I wait for better gear before artificing my Gold gear? Nothing official supports waiting. Gear Artificing is being actively expanded — 1.4 added switchable assembly techniques for Gold-quality gear with a 99% stock bill discount on the newest technique, and 1.5 adds an [Auto-Artificer] tab and a [Gear Plan] feature. No tier above Gold appears in any official version notes through the 1.5 DEV Comm of 22 August 2026.
Do I have to finish Valley IV before going to Wuling? No. Since 1.4, the permanent [Main Mission Early Unlock: Wuling] activity lets you accept Chapter II missions after completing Chapter I Process II. Chapters can run simultaneously and you can return to Valley IV at any time.
Is Arknights: Endfield released, or is it still coming soon? Released. The Steam listing says “Coming soon” with no date, but the game has been live for months on iOS, Android, PlayStation 5 and PC through the GRYPHLINK launcher, and on the Epic Games Store. Only the Steam version is pending.
What are the 「毒攻略」 lists people mention? Chinese community roundups of widely-shared advice that cost players resources. Three independent ones exist for Endfield — two on WeChat and 叶lele’s video at about 227,000 plays — which is itself a signal of how far bad advice spread at launch. They agree that waiting to artifice Gold gear, converting guarantee currency to crowns and hoarding Sanity meds all backfired.

Official. Every mechanical claim traces to Hypergryph’s own English text. The Homecoming Version Update Notes and Homecoming Core Chapter Version DEV Comm supply the conduit straight-line change and the 200-to-300-metre limit, the teleport confirmation prompt, remote stashing outside Sub-PAC areas, gas facilities and their AIC Plans arriving in 1.4, the Gold-quality assembly techniques and their 99% stock bill discount, the Basic AIC Plan requirement for using Wuling facilities in Valley IV, the [Main Mission Early Unlock: Wuling] activity, the [Sanity Usage Permit] and [Emergency Sanity Booster] event rewards, and the per-platform update instructions. The Dreamscape of Wind and Snow Version DEV Comm of 22 August 2026 supplies the [Auto-Artificer] tab and its material-return behaviour, the [Gear Plan] feature, the [Progression Overview] screen with its perfect-match essence preview and Essence Wishlist, and the live blueprint-cap counter; it is also the document in which the word “Gold” does not appear, which is the basis for saying no higher tier has been announced. The official Arknights: Endfield site supplies the Power System, Protocol Automation-Core and Logistics System definitions. Release status and the “Coming soon” wording are from the Steam store listing, which credits Hypergryph as developer and GRYPHLINE as publisher. Hypergryph’s notes do not name the mining rigs; Electric Mining Rig Mk II is the in-game English name as it appears in the corresponding AIC Plan node and quest coverage.
Community, named and counted. Play and view counts measured 24 August 2026 and rounded. The bad-advice items are led by two independent 「毒攻略」 roundups circulating on WeChat plus 叶lele’s video roundup (BV1YuAYzTEFH, ~227K plays), whose top comments supply the sharpened versions of the crown and web-event-choice items and the observation that the category is now being filtered out wholesale. The mining-rig mistake and its numbers come from 小四妖妖灵, 「是谁还在用二级矿机挖一级矿?能劝一个是一个」 (BV1jAzuBSEGe, ~849K plays) — the doubled draw, the wireless-transmission equivalence and the node-density rule from its top comment at 6.3K likes, the portable-miner over-correction from the reply at 871 likes — cross-checked against a stream clip of MR流星飞 tracing a viewer’s power draw to the same cause (BV19ccDzmEN5). Overflow and clogging are cross-verified across two communities that do not read each other: MR流星飞’s 1.4 build (BV1dLKG6GEgA, ~2.95M plays) and its dedicated destruction outpost, 金乌___’s warning that overflowing injections jam the battery line (BV1yfczzuEaA), against KyoStinV’s Overflow Protector (~137K views), EODGamer’s unclogging guide and NITrogen’s anti-clog system. The battery death spiral is look希望’s post (BV1GtS4BXEvZ, ~158K plays). Scale of factory coverage: 梦轩dada’s Valley IV base guide (BV1cTzPBkEmL, ~8.94M plays) against Let’s Game It Out (~3.10M views), the most-watched Endfield factory videos in each language. Essences: IWinToLose (~234K views) and 春风满马’s 「基质最速毕业」 (BV1vU6KBLEXx, ~2.31M plays). Blueprint hotfixing is read from the dated changelog inside MR流星飞’s own 1.4 description.
